Årets kursdeltakere møtte toppfolk i Washington Post, Politico, New York Times, Huffington Post og CBS News. I tillegg møtte gruppen sentrale personer i Committee of Concerned Journalists og Excellence in Journalism.Under samtalen med nyhetsredaktør (managing editor) Raju Narisetti i Washington Post ser vi fra venstre med ryggen til Gunnar Bodahl-Johansen, Institutt for Journalistikk, Harald S. Klungtveit, Dagbladet, Harry Tiller, Adresseavisen, Linda Askeland, Agderposten, Ann-Iren Bævre, Adresseavisen, Anne Charlotte Schjøll, Tønsbergs Blad, Alf van der Hagen, Morgenbladet, Heidi Schjetne, urix.no, Camilla Vesteng, Verdens Gang, Jan Erik Røsvik, Sunnmørsposten. - The primary purpose of journalism is to provide citizens with the information they need to be free and self-governing
- Journalism's first obligation is to the truth
- Journalism's first loyalty is to citizens
- The essence of journalism is a discipline of verification
- Journalists must maintain an independence from those they cover
- Journalists must serve as independent monitors of power
- Journalism must provide a forum for public criticism and comment
- Journalists must make the significant interesting and relevant;
- Journalists should keep the news in proportion and make it comprehensive.
